How to use Facebook to find the best local yard sale in your area through an online search. This is how I find amazing garage sales in my area.
Finding a yard sale on Facebook Marketplace
One of my favorite ways to find local yard sales where I find great items is to search on Facebook Marketplace.
How to find a garage sale on Facebook
You’ll need a Facebook account to do this:
When you’re on Facebook you’ll see a tab for Marketplace, click the tab
In the Marketplace tab there will be a magnifying glass so you can “Search”
Type in “yard sale” “garage sale” “estate sale” “church sale” “neighborhood sale” etc.
Search results will pop up and you can adjust your location and the distance you’re willing to travel for a yard sale
You can also hit the “notify me” button and Facebook will let you know when new yard sale listings are posted
Tips for finding a yard sale in my area
Don’t limit your search to just “yard sale” because you can find amazing items at church sales, neighborhood sales, estate sales, flea markets, moving sales, barn sales, etc. Try searching these terms!
Don’t judge a yard sale by its first photo
Do NOT judge a book by its cover! Click on the listing and flip through all the pictures. I found a Facebook marketplace garage sale that had a picture of children’s toys as the first photo but when I swiped I saw a bunch of antiques and it was an awesome sale.
Be Courteous
When you find a Facebook Marketplace yard sale you may want to know the prices of items that are shown in the pictures, but that’s a major faux pas in the garage sale world. Unless you need something specific, like the address is missing in the post, the best thing to do is to go to the yard sale and ask questions in person.
Do not ask if you can be allowed early into the yard sale.
