I've lived in West Michigan my whole life and have been to just about all the thrift stores within an hour radius. I personally love to shop for vintage housewares, clothing and craft supplies. Here are my favorite thrift shops in the Holland, Grand Rapids, Kentwood, Jenison, Muskegon and Grand Haven area.

Holland Thrift Stores

Holland has a TON of thrift stores! I generally skip the Goodwills and Salvation Army. But if you want an entire day dedicated to thrift shopping, come visit all the shops in Holland. If you’re in the Holland area be sure to check out Your Local Guide to Holland, Michigan

Bibles for Mexico

My favorite Holland thrift stores! There are two Bibles for Mexico locations in Holland and both are great. They have a large furniture selection and often have sales. Most of their donations are from an older crowd so you'll find a lot of vintage housewares, books and sometimes even vintage clothing here. The south side location on Lincoln has books for $.50 a piece, so if you need a lot of books for decor you should check this location out. I found my dream 50s formica table here for $20.

Eagle's Nest

Eagle's Nest has decent prices and has a really nice vintage section at the front of the store that I love to browse. They have great newer clothing and an awesome craft section with lots of fabric.

Ditto

Ditto has an amazing vintage section but it can be a little pricey. I almost always leave with something when I shop here though. It's a really large thrift store with a great clothing, houseware, book and crafting section. They sell lots of new furniture that's been donated from local furniture shops so it's a bit expensive, but if you're looking for an affordable NEW couch or dining set this is a great place to check out. They have a huge jewelry selection too and designer clothing section. They have a really awesome Christmas open house that I go to every year. I've found boxes of Shiny Brite ornaments and ceramic Christmas trees there.

Community Action House Resale Store

Another great vintage section at this store and they have a nice selection of used furniture (You can see in the photo above). I love looking through their clothes and housewares.

Habitat for Humanity Restore

A very different kind of thrift shop. If you are renovating your home and need flooring, cabinets, paint, cabinet hardware etc. this is the store for you. I needed a single cupboard with a countertop to slide next to my stove in my kitchen. I found the exact thing I needed at this shop for just $20! I've bought a lot of things here that I used as projects. The prices are really cheap and you can find vintage sinks, light fixtures and even vintage appliances like the one above.

Grand Rapids & Kentwood Thrift Stores

Bibles for Missions in Kentwood

I find a lot of vintage craft supplies and fabric here. I once found two huge bags of vintage cake toppers that I've used as decor ever since. They have a large vintage section but the prices are way too high, though I've found a few good deals mixed in there too.

St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store

A huge two story thrift shop in Grand Rapids that can be a little on the expensive side. However, if you love vintage clothing you HAVE to stop here. It's a bit more expensive than the average thrift store but a lot cheaper than a vintage clothing shop. They have a big houseware section too.

Rustic Market Thrift Store

I love this store for its cheap prices and consistent sales. I've found vintage toys here, my favorite yellow coat for $5 and tons of vintage sheets and books.

Vintage magazine collage art

Jenison & Hudsonville Thrift Stores

Bibles for Missions in Jenison

Can you tell I love the Bible thrift stores? They just have the best prices on vintage items! They have a seperate little shop next door for furniture and lighting. In the main store they have an awesome craft section along with clothing and housewares. Once I found 50 vintage Women's Day magazines (Follow my post to learn how to make vintage magazine collage art) with and a vintage Orange Bird souvenir mug. You never know what you'll find here!

vintage mid century modern living room record cabinet

 Love's Treasure in Hudsonville

There's two big shops right next to each other that are both Love's. I found my first mid century modern piece of furniture here, a gorgeous record cabinet for $10. There's a special vintage section too where I've found some affordable stuff. They have a great record selection too. If you buy something at one of the stores you can show your receipt at the other to get a discount. The other shop right next door has a nice book and houseware section.

Grand Haven & Muskegon

While you’re in Grand Haven and Muskegon there’s some great antique stores you should visit. Check out my post on The Best Antique Stores in West Michigan.

Hope's Outlet Grand Haven

The prices are great here! I've found a lot of vintage dresses here for next to nothing. They have a great houseware section and a basement here as well. If you go on the right day (I haven't figured out what day it is yet) you can get free baked goods that are near their expiration date which is always fun. I love getting a free cake or loaf or cheesy bread!

Hope's Outlet Muskegon

There are two Hope's Outlets in Muskegon and I LOVE both of them. Oh my word the prices are fantastic and there's always a BUNCH of vintage stuff like bedding, books and magazines. It's about 45 mins from my house, otherwise I'd visit every week. I’ve found a ton of vintage sheets here.

There you have it! If you’re traveling to Michigan be sure to check out my blog post on How to Take a Thrift Store Road Trip for your trip up here.
