We went to Chicago for the weekend to go vintage shopping at thrift shops and to visit Wolff’s Flea Market. I always shop this flea market whenever I’m in the Rosemont, Schaumburg or Chicago area. They have cheap vintage items and I always end up buying something. Here’s my overview of the flea market.
When and Where is it?
Allstate Arena by O’Hare airport in Chicago. It’s every Sunday in the May-October from 6AM-2PM. I arrived at 6:30AM and there was plenty of people shopping already. I would say 98% of booths were open with a few slow people still unpacking. When we left around 9AM there was even more people there so I recommend getting there early to get the good stuff.
How much to get in at Wolff’s Flea Market?
It’s one of the cheapest flea markets I visit it’s only $2 per person to get in.
What kind of shopping is it?
This is an “everything and the kitchen sink” flea market. There’s lots of booths that resell new items, plants and produce. It’s not a dedicated vintage flea market by any means. But you will find vintage items mixed in between the booths
How are the vintage prices?
The vintage items are relatively inexpensive. There are a few more expensive booths but for the most part things are pretty cheap! Personally I like to go to flea markets that have cheaper vintage items that you have to hunt for which is why I like going here. For reference I’ll share the prices of the items above and below.
Halloween ghost blow mold - $45
Blue Blendo bowl - $5
Dunkin’ Donuts Thermos - $29
El Producto tobbaco tin - $12
Blue typewriter - $20
Rainbow Snoopy piggy bank - $20
Barbie head vase - $20
Can you haggle here?
Definitely, haggling is encouraged!
Is there food available?
They have a few food vendors so you can get lunch or breakfast
The vintage items I found on my visit
I found a bunch of retro Marshall Fields boxes that I’m going to put under the Christmas tree. I paid $.50 for some and $2 for the boxes that still had color pantyhose inside.
Orange velvet pig salt and pepper shaker set for $1
Vintage Harlequin romance novels novels - $1 each
Green vintage 45 record box - $4
New handmade bead earrings - $5
Vintage cake toppers - $5
New old stock paper cups - $2.50 each
Vintage Halloween earrings - $1
1 vintage pin and 2 vintage patches - $5
Overall takeaway: I don’t drive 3 hours to Chicago just for this flea market, but I find some other thrift shops and flea markets to attend while I’m here and that makes the trip worth it. But I still always visit this flea at least once a year when I’m in the area.
If you love the thrill of the hunt you should definitely check out this market. Be sure to check out my post on flea market tips for vintage shoppers.
